Welcome to the Lovett Tokens and Medals Website
For those of you who have been following me since 2010 this will be an entire new look for the site but the material is essentially the same. There have been some changes in the arrangement of the site. Those of you viewing this for the first time I hope you find it useful and educational. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
The Lovetts - father Robert Jr. and his sons Robert Jr., George H. and John D. - produced a large body of work from approximately 1824 to George's death in 1894. Many of these are listed in current numismatic reference works with many others being known to the collecting community but not cataloged. Still others were known to collectors and cataloged but not attributed to one of the family members. And finally, over the years I have found some that seemed to have been virtually unknown to collectors. In any case there has been no one source to turn to for a complete lising of their output. This is my attempt to remedy that.
It is also very much a work in progress so if you look for something you know belongs to the Lovett's but do not find it that probably means I have simply not listed it yet. My practice has been to wait till I have a good image before posting the listing so if you do not see something listed but have a piece in your collection I am always happy to receive images to use on the site, with proper acknowledgement of course. And of course I am always happy to receive information on varieties that do not appear on the site, or metallic compositions I may not know about.
And please feel free to contact me if you have questions, comments, or information you feel I may find useful. Although this may seem like my work I have had a number of individuals provide encouragement, information, and resources I could not have done without - you know who you are. I hope someday this will be a Complete Catalog of the Works of The Lovett Family.
Enjoy, Dave Baldwin, June 2017
